MOVE, DEVELOP, THRIVE:
developmental classes

Tummy+Time.png

These unique family workshops focus on connecting with your baby while learning about the importance of movement during your baby's first year and beyond.

The Move, Develop, Thrive Workshops were built out of frustration after repeatedly hearing "I wish I had known this information!"  We cannot go back and redo our baby's first year and infant development has changed since our parent's generation. With new health recommendations and products on the market, knowing how to optimize your baby's development can be very confusing! These workshops explore the importance of early introduction of movement and teach hands on techniques for developing the foundation your baby will need for achieving developmental milestones, gross and fine motor skills, and problem solving for the rest of their lives.

Into to Newborn Tummy Time

0-4 months

Did you know tummy time:

  • should begin on day 1

  • helps with breastfeeding

  • alleviates gas pain

  • prevents flat spots on the head

  • develops motor skills of rolling, sitting and crawling

  • creates the curves of the spine needed for posture

  • promotes visual development

  • is not just putting baby on the ground!

Tummy time is essential for physical and cognitive development. Lack of tummy time can contribute to a “flat head” and developmental delays. However, tummy time isn’t as simple as putting your baby down on the floor, especially when they cry! This workshop is targeted at expecting and new parents to understand why newborn tummy time is so hard and experience ways to easily integrate tummy time into your daily routine in order to optimize their developmental skills and promote gross motor, fine motor, sensory and visual development. When your baby loves moving, playing and learning on the floor, your experience and connection during the first year will completely change for the better!

Topics will include: prevention of flat head and torticollis, the importance of tummy time, why tummy time is so hard and how to easily introduce it into your daily routine

This is a one-time 60 minute workshop. Spouses and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Please no older siblings in order to focus attention on the babies.

Tummy time is always to be performed when your child is awake and supervised.

Beyond Tummy Time

4-10 months
(pre-crawlers)

After the newborn phase, gross motor development rapidly evolves and is so fun to watch! Each new skill builds on the previous one and provides crucial information for those growing bodies and brains. But how do we play with our infants and provide them the experience and opportunity to build the foundation of strength, coordination and problem solving they need for the rest of their life? This interactive, fun, and supportive workshop builds on the theories of tummy time and will be a hands-on exploration of infant movement for babies ages 4 months - 10 months (pre-crawlers) to develop a foundation of movement for the rest of their lives.

Topics will include: rolling, sitting, crawling, play activities and toys, balance, postural alignment, flat head, and problem solving

This is a one-time 60 minute workshop. Spouses and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Please no older siblings in order to focus attention on the babies.

Tummy time is always to be performed when your child is awake and supervised.
